As a brand known for reduction and minimalism in its design process, John Galliano injects the Maison Margiela DNA into Gentle Monsters sunglasses offering by redefining conventional frames through subtle curves that creates irregularity through simple modifications.
Numbered MM001 to MM011, the styles arriving in black, tortoise and gradient colourways include tweaks on sport-style, cat-eye and wayfarer shapes through smart branding on the bridge of the frames as well as the house’s trademark four stitches that can be seen on the arms of either side. A mixture of sharp geometry and understated bulges give the glasses a nuanced difference from the archetypal designs they are traditionally known for, resulting in a minimally avant-garde capsule that would excite any fan of the luxury Parisian label.
The collection will be available on February 28th.
