Double Trouble.
Stüssy continue to take aim at Nike’s retro silhouettes as the iconic duo reunite for another sneaker collaboration, following on from their various other efforts.
From the Air Penny 2 and Air Force 1 Mid to the Air Zoom Spiridon Kukini, Stüssy x Nike collaborations aren’t afraid to delve deep into the archives for inspiration, with this newest entry seeing the partnership go further into sneaker history. The Air Flight 89 was originally designed by legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield back in, you guessed it, 1989, with the staple silhouette having been worn by the likes of NBA legends Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Having been brought back to the table in 2022, the silhouette has been one of Nike’s more popular retro revivals, with it bound to skyrocket now that Stüssy have put their spin on the action-ready sneaker. Arriving in two colourways, the Stüssy x Nike Air Flight 89 debuts in ‘Habanero Red’ and ‘Black’, with the mid-top sneaker featuring a classic leather composition and tonal TPU hardware around the midfoot, whilst snakeskin overlays brings a distinct piece of Stüssy design language to the forefront. The classic Stüssy x Nike co-branding hits the tongues and midfoot, with a pushed back Swoosh and a miniature intertwining “SS” emblem completing the new entry.
The Stüssy x Nike Air Flight 89 capsule is set to release at some point in 2024, so stay tuned to PAUSE for further release information.
