By February 2, 2014Fashion News

Zara have just released their Spring/Summer 2014 lookbook and maintain their distinctive simplistic and tailored look that make them one of the favourite labels on the high street. The lookbook shows off their formal wear for the upcoming seasons, as well as their day-to-day wear items.

With their tailoring they have kept things simple and slim fit. Though, with it being spring, they have designed their trousers to a short fit, meaning SS14 formalwear brings an air of casualness to it.

Simple garments is something they have focused on throughout their entire collection, not just their tailoring. Rather than being loud with graphic prints, the cookbook shows how to layer with light grey tee’s being under layered with white.

That is not to say that Zara have solely focused on plain elements, but interwoven more elaborate pieces and detailing quite intrinsically. A range of thin jackets with a discrete leopard animal print, as well as other pattern details on a range of shorts and trousers.

It seems that every high street brand is doing their take on varsity fashion and Zara’s seems to be taking selective inspiration from the trend, introducing an unbranded varsity style bomber jacket and also a washed-out baby blue American styled lettering on a white sweatshirt, making a for a very cool colour way for SS14.

PAUSE’s standout pieces from the lookbook would have to be the metallic silver and gold bomber jackets with black trim and zip detailing. Metallic is a trend that’s been appearing on the runway recently, so expect to see many more high street labels following this direction.

Zara SS14 shows how Spring Summer can be done stylishly without having to resort to typically loud summer prints, but instead showing a more simple approach, and cleverly introduced patterns and detailing when appropriate.
