Tim Coppens reminisces on his clubbing days for the Spring/Summer 2017 collection.
Inspired by Coppen’s own clubbing scene in his 90’s upbringing, paired with Japanese references, this SS17 collection is a mixture of athletic-wear and cultural hints. Classically tailored pieces are combined with printed T-shirts, lightweight anoraks and detailed hoodies, all of which reflect the youth culture of which he was a part of. Kimono styled jackets layer on clean cut shirtscreating boxy silhouettes, giving us a taste of the Japanse reference which is interlinked.
Coppens uses grid, gingham, hounds tooth and pinstripe patterns throughout the collection, as well as focusing on intricate details such as the paneling of materials and the many drawstrings that weave through the garments
