A look back at her spellbinding set.
American Express presents British Summer Time Hyde Park returned for 2024 with an outstanding selection of headliners, including American R&B superstar SZA. On the 29th of June, the first Saturday of BST Hyde Park’s three weekends, the singer delivered an 80-minute spectacle to a sold-out crowd of over 65,000. The groundbreaking artist was joined by special guests such as Sampha, Snoh Aalegra and Elmiene. Evidently inspired by its lush surroundings, the stage was reminiscent of a “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” film set, with SZA perching atop a giant ant and later an oversized tree branch.
With a set list of 28 songs, fans were treated to SZA’s varied discography, ranging from laid-back tunes such as “Snooze” and “Supermodel” to up-tempo hits like “Kiss Me More” (mashed up with Prince’s “Kiss”) and “Kill Bill.” Although the star kept audience interaction to a minimum, festivalgoers remained in high spirits. During her performance of “I Hate U” thousands of people screamed the lyric “F*ck you!” in unison. Before the show concluded, the artist teased her upcoming album, “Lana,” sharing a preview of her unreleased song “Storytime.”
