Filling Pieces drop their SS18 collection, named ‘Memento’, considered as a homage to the 80’s and the nostalgia from said decade. However the design team used a twist of influences from the future with the style of this collection, with the likes of boldly coloured soles and thick platforms.
Filling pieces chose to juxtapose the ‘overbranding’ movement with references to real subcultures, which cannot be more fitting with our social media obsessed society. The actual rise of consumerism has been clearly driven by overbranding which is becoming more and more popular, but the Filling Pieces classics silhouettes, like the LowTop and Mountain cut models, sees an update with them being reinterpreted to fit the modern day shoe, without the ‘overbranding’.
